Kein Kino. Guests: Laura Perrenaud & Marc Dubois. Fragmentin

May 07, 2018, 6:30 pm to 8:00 pm
Toni Kino, Zurich University of the Arts

By exploring the limits between digital and tangible, Fragmentin’s artistic projects question the impact of technologies on our everyday life, in particular, their vocation to anticipate and control it. In this context, some of their art pieces propose to embrace serendipity as an antidote to control. In the last couple of years, the studio has developed a series of performative installations («2199», «Black & Lights», «The Weather Followers» and «Attachment») where the audience can directly participate, feel, touch and witness - often with humour, poetry or irony - the human / machine interactions.

The spaces they create are often hybrid, combining both digital and physical elements. The numerous possibilities emerging from that overlap, is at the center of their artistic practice. For example the installation «2199», made virtual reality coexist with the physical materiality, while the light scenography of «Black & Lights» uses the spatial movement of the audience to help giving life and highlighting the details of a Pierre Soulage painting. Sometimes, the process is also reversed, the studio transform digital elements into tangible objects or include tangible elements into 3D virtual realities, making both world cohabiting or confronting, and playing with the different perceptions and point of views they brings. Fragmentin is spatially working at different scales. Depending on the context and concept they want to transmit, the three artists choose small objects, human scale installations or atmospheric elements such as the weather.

Weitere Informationen hier.
